Question:
Jo, I ordered copies of my doctor’s notes last year to take to Doc Mayes and the running theme through all of them was "complains of nausea." It could very well have been drugs, since I was on handfuls of them, as we all are at sometime or another. I found it can also be from reflux – one of the symptoms! Scleroderma certainly can affect the digestive tract, all the way down, and I think that can vary in us just like the disease varies from person to person. Some may have slight problems while others have serious complications that interfere with proper nourishment. Have you ever been evaluated by a gastroenterologist? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -jo wrote: > I don’t know whether I brought the question up or not, but I do want to > ask about diet. About diet, that is a very interesting question. Over the years non of my doctors every mentions diet or nutrition. Because I have pulmonary artery hypertension I was interested in nutrition as it plays a very important role in maintaining ones health. I just went looking a found a site which to me was very helpful. Wonderful day again here in Maryland. I don’t know whether I brought the question up or not, but I do want to ask about diet. I have heard that eliminating grains from diet can help people with MS. I have a co worker with MS who does this and I have heard of others who benefit from it. Before being diagnosed with SD I used to follow a low carb diet and I certainly felt much better than I do now. Does having an autoimmune disease tend to mess up the digestive tract, not just SD, but other AI diseases, also? Or does long term use of meds, like penacyllimine, have a lasting effect on taste and digestion? I’m just sick of always feeling queasy, nauseated. jo
