I am a CAPD patient and my
consultant is Dr Bell whom you never get to see. I have been his patient for 5 and a half months. I was recently put onto the transplant list. Still I find the treatment excellent although they still have not really solved the problem of itching which is a side effect from the CAPD.I must have been in about 10 times about it and alal they ever do is take blood but do not appear to know why which annoys me. I get the feeling they do not take it serious. But when it keeps you up most of the night believe me it is serious. Wouls I move ? No the hospital is handy for me and those running the CAPD ward are excellent but I wish you could see a doctor a little more often Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Being a PD patient prone to severe itching binges I can only suggest what works for me. The binges sneak up on me and before I know it I’m scratching vigorously. After I realize the damn itchies are back I make up my ming not to scratch and therefore agravate and esculate the problem. This non-scratch the itch program almost always eliminates the symptoms whithin 24 hours. Adding humidity to my apt. and applying high quality skin lotion after bathing while skin is still wet and pores are open seem to be good preventative measures. My labs couldn’t be much better so I gave up using drugs like tranquilizers to suppress the itching urge.Thjey never seem to work anyway. Let me know what ends up working for you. Well, if you WILL live in the wilds – do they still have witch doctors up there? I had a short say in Liverpool when I was taken poorly while visiting, it was OK, not great, but then again, the QE in Birmingham is not fab too.
