Question:
Both of my hands (fingers, palms) are numb all of the time. Not completely numb, but numbish, I call it. I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Dec ‘95. I had the release surgery on the right hand in Mar. 97. to no avail. Since I have done no repetitive motion, they attribute the CTS to SD. I’ve just learned to live with it. (LWI!) Kathy Wilkie

Ronni – how long does this numbness last? a few minites? All day? Do you have tingling with it? Does something seem to precipitate it – like using your hands a lot, typing, etc? I wonder if this could be a symptom of carpal tunnel syndrome. I haven’t had facial numbness, but I have experienced a strange numbness of my fingers on a couple of occasions. The strangest thing is that the numbness started in one finger, then went to the next finger in succession — i.e., thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, pinky. It may have nothing to do with scleroderma, but since this topic has been brought up, I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Ronni

The numbness only lasts a few minutes. It’s very odd, particularly the way it moves from one finger to another, in succession. Ronni
