Scleroderma Information » Scleroderma » Hardening fingertips

Question:

Hi . . . . I’m experiencing a loss of sensation of temperature in a couple of fingertips, along with a hardening (or thickening) under the skin in those areas. It’s not really painful to the touch, but often aches, throbs, & tingles it’s got the doctors stumped (10 so far). It doesn’t appear on an Xray, & it’s getting worse. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with neuropathy or nerve blockage causing anything like this? My neurologist says it’s not a neurological problem (because of the hardening), but I’m not sure I believe him. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this appreciated. Thanks! Neil

Neil, I think that can be a symptom of something called scleroderma.  Ask you doctor about that. Best, Sarah
