Question:
I agree Amie, It is worth a try. I just cut my hair rather short. It is a lot shorter than the photo on my site. So I need to get a new pic up don’t I? I am going to give it another try and take a look at some hats that I might be able to wear. As I stated before I hate hats. But who knows I may find a new love in the fashion world. I love how others look in hats. But me I look stupid or something. My favorite hat wearer was Princess Diana. Boy didn’t she make any hat look elegant. Love Sherry
Response:
Do you find that a hat helps? I’m not usually a good hat wearer but I am considering trying to wear something warm but unobtrusive most of the time this winter. Will also cover the yucky sight of my hair growing out after a very short, summer buzz job! Amie
Response:
Amie, Yes! I wear a hat almost all of the time in the winter….helps me a lot. I’m hoping they’ll come back in style with a vengeance! Now if we could just convince Pierre Cardin that gloves year round is a good idea…. Jacquie
Response:
They do say we lose 70 percent of our body heat through the top of our head. So a hat may help. I hate hats myself. I feel like a cowgirl. Ok everyone no funny tennessee jokes. haha. Love ya Sherry Messick Surviving Scleroderma http://ps.superb.net/smessick/survive

What kind of hat do you wear? Wool? Felt? Shaped, or a stretchy thing? Over the ears or just for the top of the head? I have a bunch of berets. Think that would be enough? Amie

It really depends…I can’t totally sacrifice style
Ha! If there’s a wind though…I do my best to cover my ears either with a scarf or a hat that pulls down. I have a ton and wear all different kinds….Knit or wool seem to work best in the winter. Jacquie

Joining the thread late… Hats are definitely good (I live in Wisconsin which tends to get a wee bit chilly in the winter…). I still find that no matter what I do I end up getting somewhere and my hands are totally blanched. What do you guys do to restore circulation? I find that running my hands under warm water is quite effective and I frequently use the "windmill" technique, swinging my arms in a rapid circle (although I look like a complete idiot doing this…). Also, one medications note. I don’t know what you have tried for medications for the Raynaud’s. I started with Procardia which helped but made my heartburn worse. For the past several years I have used Yohimbine which appears to be as effective as the Procardia and has no side effects that I have noticed. You have made my day, literally. The hubby’s working today and I couldn’t quite decide exactly what to do with myself, but I believe I’ll go hat shopping! I’ll just have to try them all, non? Amie

I’m like you I hate the bulky feeling of wearing so much garbage in the winter. The hot hands are a lot better than those battery powered things. Also I found that using the grabber heater things that were at the conference and placing those in a less bulky pair of gloves are easier to manipulate with then the bulky ones. I have a terrible time in the winter with raynauds and really would love to hear all of your ideas and tips. Sherry Messick Surviving Scleroderma http://ps.superb.net/smessick/survive
