Scleroderma Information » Scleroderma » Pleuritis – Any Herbal Suggestions?

Question:

I got 969 hits on pleurisy and pleuritis at http://www.yahoo.com  - odds would suggest there might be _something_ useful amongst that, as well as the fact that you can search on several other search engines from Yahoo, too. As for minocycline, this topic has been quite thoroughly discussed here (ad nauseum, as a matter of fact) and you can look those posts up at http://www.dejanews.com/ – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -eb29090 wrote in message … >Hi, >I am hoping to find something that can relieve the pain of recurrent >pleuritis.  My doctor recommends NSAIDs to be eaten like candy but I cannot >take these drugs at high doses forever! >I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions for relief of the sharp pains >associated with pleuritis (pleurisy). >History: >Male, 46.  Diagnosed with Scleroderma,  December 1997.  Started Minocycline >regime, January 1998.  Pleuritis started, September 1998. >I have been somewhat fortunate regarding the progression of this nasty >illness because, until the pleuritis, my only significant symptoms were skin >thickening on my hands, Raynaud’s syndrome in hands and legs and >tingling/loss of coordination in my hands.  I suspect that the >antiinflamatory properties and "suppression of other components of the >mammalian immune system" of the Minocycline are largely responsible for the >slow progression. >Anyone that is diagnosed with Scleroderma should buy and read a book titled >"The Road Back" by Brown and Scammell.   Minocycline, daily aerobic exercise >and good dietary behaviors may stall this horrid disease until the >bioengineers can decipher the mystery of autoimmune disease and sell us a >true cure. >Best regards, >Ron

Hi, I am hoping to find something that can relieve the pain of recurrent pleuritis.  My doctor recommends NSAIDs to be eaten like candy but I cannot take these drugs at high doses forever! I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions for relief of the sharp pains associated with pleuritis (pleurisy). History: Male, 46.  Diagnosed with Scleroderma,  December 1997.  Started Minocycline regime, January 1998.  Pleuritis started, September 1998. I have been somewhat fortunate regarding the progression of this nasty illness because, until the pleuritis, my only significant symptoms were skin thickening on my hands, Raynaud’s syndrome in hands and legs and tingling/loss of coordination in my hands.  I suspect that the antiinflamatory properties and "suppression of other components of the mammalian immune system" of the Minocycline are largely responsible for the slow progression. Anyone that is diagnosed with Scleroderma should buy and read a book titled "The Road Back" by Brown and Scammell.   Minocycline, daily aerobic exercise and good dietary behaviors may stall this horrid disease until the bioengineers can decipher the mystery of autoimmune disease and sell us a true cure. Best regards, Ron
