Question:
This sounds really wierd, but lately I’ve been wondering about a weight-loss link. I’ve never taken diet pills, but I have done extreme dieting – very low calories. I’ve known other SDers who had flare and weightloss together but in most it was assumed that the weightloss was because of the SD flare, even if the person was dieting. Maybe there’s some "fire feeding fire" here. Sorry to hear about your friend. No doubt there are many questions! Interestingly enough, several people at a scleroderma conference about 8 years ago were talking about things they had in common. It turned out most of us had taken diet pills at one time or another. For me, it was many moons ago, and only for a short time. "redux" is a brand name for a diet drug. In the same class as the fen/phen drugs. They have been taken off the market due to an increased risk of heart problems. I don’t really know a whole lot about it myself – just searching for answers.
