Scleroderma Information » Scleroderma » …so what size should my ring be now?
Question:
I do believe your local jeweler can advise you about resizing your rings. There was someone whom posted to the NG who have had her rings altered to fit her fingers, but I don’t recalled who it was. My hands do swell also but do they do go back down-so whether anyone can say if your knuckles will return to the normal size is really hard to say. I had to have my wedding ring cut off when this sclero hit, and have not yet had it re-sized. Can I ever expect my knuckle to get back to its original size?
Response:
Maybe the hinge thing will work. I’ll ask my jeweler. My fingers have been up and down, so it’s hard to say. I did finally have it sized up after about 5 years. "Judy Bay" <jb…@terraworld.net> wrote in message

My hands were very swollen and I had to buy rings two sizes larger then after about 10+years the swelling in myhands went down my fingers are now back to their original size. So fingers can go back to their original size……..Gigi << From: Judy Bay jb…@terraworld.net Date: Thu, Mar 15, 2001 7:31 PM >> << I had to have my wedding ring cut off when this sclero hit, and have not yet had it re-sized. Hi Judy….talk to your jeweler and see if there is any way to add a hinge to your wedding band. That way it can slide over your knuckle. I know it sounds strange, but I’ve seen it done. Good luck, and take care! Tracy "if you’re on thin ice you may as well dance…"
