Question:

Does anyone know if my sister, Pat, with scleroderma can file for social security disability.  I’m receiving mixed messages and would like to know if there is anyone who may know. —–== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==—– http://www.dejanews.com/   Now offering spam-free web-based newsreading

Response:

Pat, Yes, Scleroderma is a disease that we can draw social security income from.  It might take a while to go through the process.  I and many others are on SS disability.  It took me two years and a lawyer.  I suggest using a lawyer from the start.  Good Luck! Dee Dee Hunt

Response:

I agree, start with a lawyer from the start.  It could save alot of time. van…@mailexcite.com DHunt75504 wrote in message

Response:

Social Security Disability uses the same criteria from place to place to determine eligibility.  While some have difficulty establishing this eligibility others do not due to "multiple organ" involvment which seems to have a higher priority in approval.  The other most important reason SSD is delayed or denied is due to the physician.  While the doctor may be a great MD, that is no guarantee he/she can fill out forms to suit Uncle Sam.  On a personal note, my claim was approved within 45 days.
