Question:
Does anyone know of very warm gloves, undershirts or night wear? Thank you. ~Mary~

In this area, I start frequenting Galyan’s or other sport clothing stores about now for good stuff. I get ski glove liners that have a little stretchy to them for wearing "everyday." You can actually type in them. My husband got some great Nike tights and long-sleeved turtle-neck shirt at the Olympics in Nagano that are very insulating but light and breathable – one of those new fabrics. In reference to "Winter Silks", I’m sure their long underwear, undershirts and such are good, but I found the silk glove liners worthless. And expensive. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Seaglass2 wrote in message <19981031100732.25061.00002…@ng-fi1.aol.com>… >Does anyone know of very warm gloves, undershirts or night wear? My Raunaud’s isn’t too severe so for medium cold weather my favorite are Polar Fleece gloves I got at the London Fog outlet store. I liked them so much I have 3 pairs; 1 pair stays in the trunk of my car year round, 1 pair stays in my suitcase so I don’t forget them, and 1 pair for everyday use. They look big and fuzzy but they are the warmest gloves I’ve found… including shearling lined leather gloves, rabbit fur lined leather gloves, and rag wool mittens. For severe cold (like being outside for long periods of time), I use Early Winters gloves… they are mineral filled (so you can microwave them before use) and include a pouch for a warming pouch (available in sporting goods stores… they last about 3-6 hours). As you move your fingers, the oil moves around the gloves and circulates the heat. N.B. I’ve told two people in support group about them, they tried them, and did not like them. Bottom line – you gotta kiss a lot of frogs before you find the prince. My prince might be your frog and vice versa. I’m into Polarfleece (washable, warm, wicks away moisture, lightweight) and have asked for a polarfleece nightshirt for christma. Until then, I stick with flannel in the winter. Second Sherry’s camisole comment. Olga use to make them with a built in bra….. I also find that at work, a vest works well for me. Good luck in your quest for warmth, Warmly, Lisa Glover – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Seaglass2 wrote in message <19981031100732.25061.00002…@ng-fi1.aol.com>… >Does anyone know of very warm gloves, undershirts or night wear? Do you need clothing, accessories or adaptive equipment, then call any of the listed below 800#s for a free catalog Winter Silks 1-800-648-7455 L.L. Therefore it is essential to keep them warm. I am from Tennessee and love to kick off them ole shoes. So I had to find ways to let my toes feel free but still warm. I buy the thickest and warmest house shoes I can find. I then wear thick house socks and slip my feet inside the shoes. I also try and be sure my socks are covered by my pants so air doesn’t get to my feet. Even when you walk on heavy carpeted areas it is necessary to protect the feet by keeping warm. This pair evens has a pouch on the toes to insert one of the Grabber warmers into. The Vermont Country Store is another resource to add to your Tips page. It has a lot of very good stuff (including the moo!> bag balm). For me, it is the cotton "sleep gloves". I saw the same things in another "Adaptive" catalog that I received… $24 for two pair. Vermont Country Store offers two pair for $12! (Oh, in the "adaptive" catalog, they had colored designs on them….). Their 24 hour number is: 1-802-362-2400 Fax: 1-800-362-0285 I’m sure they would send a catalog if you just call and request one. They have a lot of things I recommend, like "pant slips"… acrylic pants that fit under your slacks and REALLY make a difference in the winter. And, acrylic "short pant slips" that fit under culottes. (They’d be great under skirts, if you have to wear those…or slacks and T-shirts.) It is amazing how much warmer you feel with this lining around your legs! Then there are the camisoles… "women’s T-shirts"… that you can wear under your blouses (ok, guys… you can wear "real" T-shirts for the same effect, so don’t complain!). They really can make a difference in one of those "HVAC" controlled environments. — Love and Hugs From Sherry Messick Surviving Scleroderma http://www.SclerodermaSupport.com "Get Up, Stand Up and Fight to survive because Scleroderma Kicks you when you are down" "We are all Beacons Of Light for Each Other " Oprah Winfrey Tomorrow is promised to no one.
